This is a red squirrel. They are indigenous to the UK and other countries, but are currently endangered here because of the grey squirrel which is from America.

For those of you who don't know, these are loving creatures who do not damage things, whereas if a grey squirrel gets into your house it actually looks like it has been burgled, it destroys everything.

" The color composition is really great, what with elements of hazy bokeh simply bringing the mind to focus on the actual piece. And the timing is perfect since the face of the squirrel (kawaii!) is expressing a whole of emotions other than the "Peek a Boo"! Good timing and brilliant use of photographic techniques truly make it a funny picture in this summer. " -phoenixleo

I just love the expression you caught here. What a seriously great capture. The color is really great, and the composition (previously mentioned about the tree not filling the frame) doesn't bother me at all, nor does the fact that the balance is off. The negative space on the left does it for me. I also really like the bokeh.

The only negatives (and I wouldn't even really call them negatives so much as could be "improved upons" or "keep in minds") is that, again, when you have the extra room in exposure, I'd have kicked down the ISO to 200 or move the aperture up a bit. 1/200 isn't crazy high shutter speed (and maybe he was moving fast and you needed it - if so, ignore!), but if you can afford loosing a bit, I personally feel DOF or noise levels are more important.

Overall, like I said, I love this one :) I think it's very successful.

Awwwww...... KAWAII DESU!!!!! (cute)

At first, i really like how the background blurred. the hazy bokkeh in nice grey colours, with touches of orange and green. Smooth!

Then, the squirrels expression is just plain win. priceless "oh fuck, i am busted" look on it's face makes me giggle a bit. I also like how some of the fur blurs out with the background.


All in all, i really love the colours, composition, background and the fluffy little thing you took a picture of.

... If only its tail was visible... that would have been extremely cute...
